Since they weren’t able to finish the second special of Saturday, the crew of Ultimate Dakar couldn’t have any other goal but to finish the race and try to clock a good time on the last stage of the rally. Mission completed: Tomas Ourednicek and Pavel Vaculik put on a great performance to finish 8th on the 175 km track. In the overall classification Tomas and Pavel occupy the 17th position.
„After the problems yesterday Pavel was quite afraid at the beginning of the stage, but fortunately the weather was not so hot as in the previous days. The track was fantastic with the rally-like part after the start, it was really fun to drive. We tried to find a good pace and avoid mistakes. The special was also a good opportunity for me to test braking with left foot, and it works well. Since we started from quite behind, we had to overtake many times, but all competitors were really fair, they let us pass quickly. On the other hand, after last night’s rain it was not so dusty, that made overtaking easier, too. Overall, this wasn’t an easy weekend for us, but still we were able to finish and score some important points in the Hungarian Championship, so we can be happy,” Tomas Ourednicek said after the finish.
The next event for Ultimate Dakar is another round of the World Cup, this time in Poland. Baja Poland will take place in Szczecin, in the northwestern part of the country on 27-30 August.
