Dakar 2024: A positive day for Toyota Gazoo Racing Czech crew

Toyota Gazoo Racing Czech crew Tomas Ourednicek and David Kripal enjoyed a smooth and successful day during Stage 8 between Al Duwadimi and Hail. On the 458 km long special stage of the day, they managed to overtake several cars, however, they lost some time due to the dust.

“Yesterday, we had a challenging day with a slow pace. I was very unhappy because of the huge penalty we received. I don't think it is fair, but it's like this. This means we can't fight for a better result anymore. Now, we continue the race to reach the finish line and to gain experience with the new car.
Today, we enjoyed the stage. There were dunes in the beginning, very nice, smooth ones. We passed many cars, including some V6 Hilux. In the second half, it was very stony and tricky, really not nice, a lot of fesh fesh, very rough. There was also a lot of dust, so overtaking was impossible. We lost some time in that part.
But we are here, finally finished a stage in the daylight. The car works well, so we are happy with today. We hope to keep this on for the remaining stages,” Tomas Ourednicek said after Stage 8.

“Today it was nice, we enjoyed the dunes. It wasn’t easy to overtake in the dust, but step by step, we passed many cars. Navigation was perfect today,” co-driver David Kripal added.

Tomorrow's Stage 9 between Hail and Al Ula will be slightly shorter, with 417 km against the clock and a total distance of 639 km.
