Successful day in the dunes for Ourednicek and Kripal
First real dune day of this year’s Morocco Desert Challenge was great for Tomas Ourednicek and David Kripal. The Ford Ranger Phoenix ran like a dream, and the crew had no major problem. According to the unofficial results, they finished 318 km long stage 5 between Foum Zguid and Zagora with the 8th best time and are sitting in 6th position overall.
„We got lost for a couple of minutes right after the start, the dust was so thick that we simply couldn’t see where we were. But apart from this and getting stuck for a very short while we had no problems at all today. Before the dunes we stopped to adjust the pressure, we lost some time with this, but it paid off. The dunes were really not easy, we saw a MAN on its side, but we managed to avoid troubles. Short before the neutralisation we caught Fernando Alvarez, and we drove together from that point on. The car is in good shape now, there won’t be too much to do on it, so hopefully tonight our mechanics Kuba Mikulok and Jirka Sivek can have some sleep finally after all the heroic efforts of the past days,” Tomas Ourednicek summarised the fifth race day.
On Thursday, the competitors are to complete a classic desert stage between Zagora to Merzouga, the 6th stage of Morocco Desert Challenge being 370 km long.
