Successful finish for Ourednicek and Vaculik in 2016 Dakar Rally

The crew of Buggyra Ultimate Dakar, Tomas Ourednicek and Pavel Vaculik succesfully finished the 2016 Dakar Rally. In the last stage between Villa Carlos Paz and Rosario the crew clocked the 41st time, overall they landed in 47th position with the Hummer H3 EVO.

“Today was maybe the most stressful day of all… I didn’t want to think about finishing. I was very tired, so I tried to drive carefully, but still we were able to pass three cars in the special. The stage was very nice but I couldn’t really enjoy it because my ears were very painful due to the constant rubbing of the helmet. Each and every bump of the special hurt, but I tried to stay focused up until the finish line. Now we go to Rosario to drive through the podium at the end of this very hard race. I’m really touched, it’s hard to find words to describe my feelings” Tomas Ourednicek said after the finish of the 180 km long last special.

Tomas and Pavel had very hard two weeks in their first Dakar Rally together. They struggled a lot with the engine of their Hummer loosing power in the high altitude specials of Bolivia, and were on the edge of withdrawal in the dunes of Fiambala due to overheating fuel and other technical problems. But despite these difficulties, they have fond memories, too, for example finishing in the top 40 on two occasions or meeting the enthusiastic Bolivian Dakar fans.

Tatra Buggyra Racing made a 100% finish with both trucks crossing the finish line as well. Jaroslav Valtr together with Jiri Stross and co-driver legend Josef Kalina achieved a career’s best 8th place, while stage winner trio of Martin Kolomy, Rene Kilian and David Kilian finished in 16th position after accidents and technical problems.
