Tomáš Ouředníček is heading to the World Championship in Africa!
This year's world champion will soon be decided in Morocco, Africa. What is already certain, however, is that Toyota has once again claimed the world championship among constructors, now for the fourth consecutive time.
In just a week, Czech driver Tomáš Ouředníček will start in the legendary Rallye du Maroc, the final event of this year's FIA World Rally Raid Championship (October 10–17). For the first time, he will have the opportunity to take advantage of the full support of the TOYOTA GAZOO RACING factory team, the South African SVR team.
"After I received an invitation to a private test in Spain and tried out how the latest generation factory car works, I wanted nothing more than to compete in it – and it's no coincidence that it turned out to be a very demanding race in the Sahara Desert, also known as the 'Little Dakar'," says Ouředníček.
"This is a unique opportunity for me, the culmination of our journey with Toyota – I can finally focus entirely on racing, have the whole factory team's support at my disposal, watch how they work, and experience it all firsthand. It's a big change for me – I'll have the team's mechanics and full support. This time, I don't have to worry about the car, service, or logistics. I also consider it a celebration and the culmination of my lifelong efforts," he adds.
On the recommendation of the team manager, Ouředníček will be partnered in the race by Rafal Marton, a renowned Polish navigator whom he has known for many years. "The navigation will be in English, but there will certainly be a little Czech or Polish mixed in from time to time. We only have two days to get used to each other, but I hope that our language barrier won't slow us down," adds Ouředníček.
