Unity is strength
After two whole seasons of learning and preparing, Tomas Ourednicek and Pavel Vaculik are ready for the next big step of their racing career: to tackle their first Dakar. The Czech crew will compete under Buggyra Racing’s colours, making the 2016 Dakar the first time ever when the prestigious truck team gets involved in another category. The Hummer H3 EVO 1 of the duo will wear the number 381 in the toughest motorsport event in the world, starting from Buenos Aires on January 2nd, 2016.
Dakar Rally is about teamwork. If you are alone, it’s extremely hard, almost impossible to reach the finish line. If you are a newcomer, the task is even more difficult, as experience is the other key of Dakar success. But the good thing is that you don’t need to collect all the experience yourself, you can count on those who went this way before you. For example, you can join an experienced team and enjoy their support, like Tomas Ourednicek and Pavel Vaculik do during the 2016 edition of Dakar Rally.
Buggyra Racing is a well known name in the trucks’ world: with their eight European Championship titles in the Truck Race series, top 10 results in the Dakar and world speed records they are one of the most successful teams in this art. To try themselves among the cars for the first time, they chose Tomas Ourednicek as partner not only because of his previous successes as co-driver (7th place overall in the 2009 Dakar with Miroslav Zapletal), but also for his promising results as driver (2nd place in the FIA Central European Zone Trophy in 2014, category title in the Hungarian championship in 2014 and 2015, special prize for the most reliable driver in the Hungarian Championship 2014).
“This year was the first step of a long way for us, and Dakar 2016 is still about learning and gaining as much experience as we can. Our budget is small, can’t be compared to the big factory teams like MINI, Peugeot or Toyota, but the results in Spain and Morocco showed that we were able to stand our ground even in a field full of Dakar stars. The cooperation with Buggyra means a lot for us, because without them we wouldn’t have a chance for having such a professional background. This is the first time they open to a new category in Dakar, and it’s a great privilege for us to be part of a real motorsport legend,” Tomas Ourednicek said.
The 2016 edition of Dakar Rally begins in Buenos Aires with a spectacular start ceremony on January 2nd, followed by thirteen stages in Argentina and Bolivia before the finish line in Rosario, Argentina on January 16th.
